Sales Manager
Location: Cambridge, UK
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The UK Sales Manager is responsible for the sales and marketing of Veeco’s range of AFM/SPMs and Wyko optical and Dektak surface profiling systems within the UK and Ireland.
Based in our modern UK headquarters in Swavesey, CAMBS, the role includes both management and direct sales responsibilities. As such, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of consistently exceeding business goals in both direct sales and sales management positions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Overall sales performance of Veeco’s AFM and surface profiling product lines in the UK and Ireland,
to exceed corporate sales targets
Line management of UK Sales and Applications Team members
Direct sales of AFM and surface profiling products within the South UK sales region
Reporting to European Director of Sales, Instrumentation, including submission of monthly and
quarterly rolling sales forecasts
Managing marketing campaigns against an agreed budget, including organization of workshops,
conferences and user meetings
Close liaison with UK Service Manager, including leading weekly team meetings between sales,
service and applications staff
Development of a strong understanding of competitive technology and products
Identifying emerging opinion leaders in the field, forming strong working relationships with both
emerging and established opinion leaders
Management of customer database through CRM software
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Extensive Travel Required
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 3 years experience in sales and/or sales management roles within the scientific instrumentation market.
Experience with AFM/SPM and/or surface profiler markets would be an advantage
A strong team leader, with a proven ability to organize and lead a team to meet objectives
Energetic self-starter with a strong work ethic
Highly competitive with a natural “will to win”
Minimum BSc in physical sciences subject
Fluent in English language. Additional languages may be an advantage
Full UK driving license
